Original Post:

Good morning,

Lights snow began working its way through the Twin Cities this afternoon and is expected to continue through the day Monday.

Our Forecast:

We are expecting 1-2″ of snow from this system ending Monday afternoon.

Our Plan*:

We will be out tonight to complete a full plow on sites with 1″ triggers and completing a final plow Monday night on all sites if we receive additional accumulation during the day.

We will also go through Winter Safety accounts before lunch and before 5 if needed.

Our Future:

The rest of the week looks to be dry and in the 20’s.

I will be attending a Professional Landcare Network conference in Las Vegas the 16th-21st this week but will still be available by phone or email if you need anything. Have a great day and be careful during tomorrow’s commute!

Snow: February 7-9

Everything has been plowed again tonight and we are still expecting another inch or so today and will complete another plow tonight.

Thank you!

Original Post:
Good morning!

I am slow in getting things posted today – I apologize for that. We have already been out and completely plowed or opened up all drives and walks depending on your trigger amount.

Our Forecast:

We are expecting another 4-6″ of steady light to moderate snow through tomorrow afternoon. It was a beautiful, peaceful snowfall this morning!

Our Plan*:

We will be out before lunch and again before 5 to clear drive lanes and walks on our winter safety accounts with a full plow tonight and possibly another tomorrow.

Check back to our Snow and Ice Management Journall for updates on what will happen tomorrow.

Our Future:

Cold air filters its way into our region with a cold week remainder of the week ahead. We’ll see what happens.

Contact Note:

I will be out of town a fair amount over the next two weeks. My Grandpa in Iowa is very sick and I am attending a Professional Landcare Network conference in Vegas the 16th-21st. Please utilize (and spread the word to your tenants) our on-line report located at the top-right of quercusinc.com and our Snow & Ice Management Journal if you need anything. It sends a text message to whoever is on call and we will get back to you right away.

You can also call:

Winter Storm Watch

6 02 2010

Good morning!winter storm watch 2/6

Our first winter storm watch in a little while was issued a little after 3 this morning for a very odd area. Some areas may receive 6-10″ of snow but we should be 2-4″ starting Sunday morning and ending Monday night.

The National Weather Service is saying “a significant amount of uncertainty on exactly where these weather systems will track” so we’ll see what happens with this one.

Have a great day!

Brad

Snow: February 1

1 02 2010

UPDATE February 2 8:30 AM:

We have completed our full plow this morning and some snow has made its way back into the metro. We are looking at another 1/2″ of accumulation through the day and will be out this afternoon again to clear walks.

Have a great day!

Brad

Original Post:

Good morning –

We have a little snow working its way through the Twin Cities. Maybe an inch or two through tomorrow morning. We will be clearing walks and deicing lots on Winter Safety accounts this afternoon and then plowing tonight if we hit trigger amounts.

Have a great day!

Brad

Very very slick

23 01 2010

Update 10:00 AM:

Roads and walks are melting nicely-even untreated ice should be better by noon.

Original post:
Avoid travel at all cost this morning-it is extremely icy and should be much better this afternoon. We are out salting sites now.

Warm, Wintery Weekend

22 01 2010

The weather is starting to look a little different this afternoon than earlier in the day.

Our Forecast:

We are expecting 1/4″ of ice starting around midnight tonight through morning tomorrow and raining through the day Saturday. We will have a high of 38 degrees tomorrow, so hopefully the ice will melt. Sunday is looking like very little snow at the point with accumulations less than an inch.

Our Plan*: Ice is difficult to predict the best course of action. The rain washes away any liquid anti-icing agents along with granular salt. We will be going out tomorrow morning around 4 to spread salt in the lots and walks of our Winter Safety sites and will return late morning to salt again until the threat of ice has diminished. Then again Saturday night/Sunday morning to combat the ice again.

Our Future:

Cold weather blasts its way back in after this storm goes through with a high of 16 on Tuesday and lows around 0. It shouldn’t stay around too long though

Have a great weekend and be safe!

Brad

Slick roads

7 01 2010

Ghosts of Christmas Ice

6 01 2010

Just posted this on our website about how the snow and rain from Christmas are coming back to haunt us.

Snow: January 6

6 01 2010

Update 4:00 PM:

We have hit all sidewalks of clients with winter safety services this afternoon and have begun a full plow to be completed tonight. Hopefully we’ll get rid of some more of that pesky ice!

Brad

Update 9:00 AM:

The snow has unexpectedly picked up in intensity and now looks to drop 1-2 more inches this morning still ending at noon.

Brad

Update 6:00 AM:

Good morning-snow finally started falling after 430 am or so this morning with some pretty quick accumulations in some areas of the metro.

We are out clearing walks and will get as much plowed as possible but that won’t be too much.

The snow is supposed to end around noon-I will give an update when it is done regarding our plow situation.

Have a safe commute!

Brad

Original Post:

Good afternoon,

Happy New Year! It seems like it has been so long since I wrote you last, but it has only been a week.

A large Alberta Clipper is making its way through the midwest as with Winter Storm Warnings to our south and west expecting up to 8″ through Iowa. Luckily, we are just outside the major area and snow will be minimal if all stays to plan.

Our Forecast:

We are expecting 1-3″ of snow from this system beginning this evening through noon tomorrow.

Our Plan*:

If the storm does materialize, we will be completing a full plow tonight and will continue to shovel walks/open up lanes through the end of the storm/as needed for our winter safety clients.

This time around we will be using a 50/50 mix of sand and salt on sites to gain a little traction on top of the ice that is leftover from our Christmas snow.

Our Future:

Continued cold air will follow this snow into Minnesota with more brutal cold through Saturday then a much welcomed warm-up on Sunday to the mid-twenties. Yippee!!!!

Have a great night!

Brad

Our Wrap Up: Christmas Snow

31 12 2009

Wrap up:

The Christmas Storm of 2009 is finally over and we almost have everything cleaned up. Many areas through the Twin Cities received 14+ inches of snow while the airport only got 9.2” somehow but most of the metro got more than 11”. This storm didn’t get the major totals expected because some warm air made it into the area overnight on the 24th making the snow very wet and heavy along with rain which pulled down our accumulations.

We completed multiple plows with a full plow the night of the 23rd, day of the 25th and night of the 26th with a lot of sidewalk clearing and salting throughout. The very warm temperatures and rain made for a very heavy, wet snow that needed to be pushed an extra time or it would have frozen to the pavement and not come off until June.

The Snow Report has been uploaded to the Snow Docs page.

Have a great day!

Brad
